​Building Bridges Conference 2016

There were some amazing national presenters and local experts offering diverse workshops at our 2016 Building Bridges conference including:
  • Sexual and Domestic Violence and Islam, KARAMAH: Muslin Women Lawyers for Human Rights.
  • Understanding and Stopping the Cultural Practice of FGM.
  • Enhancing the Effectiveness of Culturally and Linguistically Specific Approach, Violence Intervention Partnership.
  • Engaging Men and Boys in Ending Gender Based Violence.
  • Also presentations by: the New England Survivors of Torture and Trauma (NESTT) at the University of Vermont in Burlington and Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence.
 
And featuring keynote speaker Freda Luzinda. Freda Luzinda is the Country Director of Child Advocacy Africa (CAA), who began advocating for orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda during her time working at the US Embassy in Kampala processing adoption visas. She is an Attorney at Law who fights and advocates for justice for vulnerable children and orphans (including trafficking victims), and also has a B.S. degree in social work.
