Domestic Violence is when one party is abused or experiences violence from another. Domestic abuse comes in various ways like the following: verbal, physical, sexual, emotional, reproductive, and religious. For instance, constantly insulting someone or forcing someone to have a child are forms of domestic violence. Immigrant communities face a unique issue because domestic violence is under-reported and ill-defined.

Certain communities may find it difficult because of the differences in cultural understandings or rules. Some cultures even think domestic violence is justified or acceptable. Consequently, it is often difficult to understand domestic violence's harmful effects in these communities without proper education Sexual assault, on the other hand, is a form of violence often experienced by women, as 20% of women and 2% of men are sexual assault survivors according to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center. More often, victims are abused by their significant others and/or acquaintances. Through proper culturally-specific information, more victims will be able to get the help they need.
